Marketing & Communications Manager

Job description


Reporting to the Director, Strategic Communications & Policy, you will be responsible for corporate communications, marketing, web management (including social media), and event planning. You have a strong understanding of corporate communications and are able to effectively communicate to both external and internal audiences. Additionally, you have strong digital marketing skills and and will work closely with the Communications Coordinator to strategize and deliver on all electronic and print communications. You are creative, detail-oriented and looking to drive the tech industry forward through compelling storytelling and high-impact events.



  • Oversee all electronic and print communications, ensuring consistency with our brand and strategy;

  • Effectively plan and implement marketing strategies for program launches, events, and member-facing activities;

  • Manage production of high-profile publications, such as our annual Year-in-Review report, paying close attention to every detail;

  • Conduct research and analysis on a variety of communications initiatives;

  • Assist with media relations, working closely with the Director to ensure that media enquiries are responded to in an effective and timely manner;

  • Assist in the planning and execution of our annual Technology Impact Awards gala (TIAs), by managing and developing all print collateral, marketing strategies, and necessary website updates;

  • Manage creative communications initiatives, including working closely with contractors for video production and graphic design; and

  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal and external communications strategies.



  • 5 years in marketing, communications, or public relations;

  • Strong project management skills;

  • Natural storyteller - once you’re immersed in the strategy, ideas and content will easily come to mind along with effective ways to get the message across on different channels;

  • Experience in lead generation marketing to drive sales of products or services;

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines - you are an effective project manager and will put the necessary processes in place to manage workload and priorities;

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with social media for business, as well as email marketing (we use MailChimp);

  • Outstanding English written and verbal communication skills;

  • Strong affinity to BC Tech’s vision and desire to play a role in making BC the best place to grow and scale a tech company;

  • Bonus: experience in video production; and

  • Bonus: experience with event planning.
